Namaqua Pride's Kraalbos Health & Beauty Products

Image
Today I’m very proud to showcase a health &   beauty brand that’s based in the beautiful Namaqualand, the place I call home. A brand called Namaqua Pride, situated in Okiep a charming little town where honor and mindfulness matters. Namaqua Pride produces the most amazing beauty bars, body and hair care products made from Kraalbos and other specially selected natural ingredients. I'm going to tell you more about 3 of these great products but first, let's look into what Kraalbos can do for you... What is Kraalbos? "Robert Richards owner of the Namaqua Pride range has turned an invasive bush into a profitable health & beauty product business. Once considered a problem, Galenia Africana, or Kraalbos as it is known in Namaqualand, has turned out to be a super shrub. This lime green, medium-sized pioneer plant is not only a “nursing” plant that shelters the seedlings of perennials on degraded land, but it is also packed with healing properties that can h...

Revlon Photoready Insta-filter Foundation in 320 True Beige

Image
The Revlon Photoready Insta-filter Foundation in 320 True Beige  appears very natural looking on my skin and the shade blends in perfectly with my skin tone. On first application my face looks blemish free and almost flawless, however by the end of the day I do find that my pores appear shiny and not as polished. Then again I do live in one of the hottest parts of South Africa.  I always have to be careful not to use too much product as the coverage is really great and a little goes a long way. It comes with a nifty looking build-in sponge which I sadly don't use as I like to apply my foundation with my fingers. There’s a gap right in the middle where a tiny stream of foundation flows into in you twist the bottom part of the bottle. I normally squeeze the sponge to quickly zap up the product with my fingers. Like previously mentioned I like using my fingers, I’m not into foundation brushes or sponges at all as I feel it’s not very hygienic and also becau...

Revlon Photoready Insta-Sculpt Contouring Palette 001

Image
The Revlon Photoready Insta-Sculpt Contouring Palette 001 allows for a very natural contouring look as the shades are not that dark. Which I like, I think it is perfect for a daytime look that’s normally less dramatic. In the pictures below I’ve applied the bottom right shade under my cheekbones and the bottom left shade on the sides of my nose.  The peachy hue of the top left shade goes onto my cheeks, giving it a youthful look and the highlighter which is the top right shade goes onto my chin, the bridge of my nose and across my cheekbone.  I can definitely see the difference contouring does to my face and it’s great to have a cute contouring kit like this one as it has all the shades to create a beautifully defined look. I really enhance my facial features in a lovely, natural way. I always use a dash of powder and makeup setting spray to set my look and this trick really helps the contouring to stay put. The black packaging of this product is...

Revlon Colorstay Creme Eye Shadow in 710 Caramel

Image
I’ve been wearing the Revlon Colorstay Creme Eye Shadow in 710 Caramel for over 5 months and I’m still impressed every time I use it . Apart from being so pretty and leaving a lovely pigmented golden hue on my eyelids, I love the fact that it’s so hygienic . In my opinion, I’ve found that most eyeshadows accumulate bacteria very fast. I had to tuck many shadows in the past due to this however, the Revlon Colorstay Creme Eye Shadows comes with a lid that screws on tightly , in fact, the overall package of this product is quite amazing. The glass bottom part allows you to see the great colour which makes the product stay beautiful for the longest time.  Also, it comes with a cute little eyeshadow brush that I sadly never use as I like to use my fingers when applying eyeshadows and foundations. The product itself is also really amazing as one coat is all I normally need.  It’s long-wearing, pretty and it always creates beautifully, glam makeup look...

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 052 Show Stopper

Image
A show stopper it is, Revlon’s beautiful new matte Super Lustrous Lipstick in the shade called (052) Show Stopper! It suits my skin tone so well and I guess I just never found the right hue as I’ve always stayed away from red lip colours in the past. However this one, seriously, va va woom!  I love the fact that it stayed on during a hot summery day, a weeks ago. I was out and about town, busy with Christmas shopping where after I had something to eat and drink at a restaurant. I also remember asking my mom about the appearance of my lips so that I could make mental notes for this post.  I didn’t completely believe my mom when she told me repeatedly that it still looked perfect however when I visited the bathroom I had all the proof I needed. It still looked fabulous and intact, even on the edges of my lips.  Like, there wasn’t really any need for touch-ups. One coat is all you need to cover your lips but I think 2 coats are a safe bet for a fabu...

Clere Radiance 5 Oils Body Oil

Image
Today I’m reviewing the Clere Radiance 5 Oils Body Oil which consists of a 5 oil blend of Olive Oil to help unclog pores, Castor Oil to remove impurities as well as Coconut Oil to soften the skin. There’s also Argan Oil to hydrate and lastly, Magnolia Oil to help minimise the appearance of stretch marks.  The Clere Radiance 5 Oils Body Oil also contains Pure Glycerine, Vitamin A and E and Super Fruit Serum with anti-oxidants to nourish and moisturise the skin.  I adore the prominent smell of the rich, earthy Argan Oil in this blend, there’s something very luxurious about it. Apart from smelling really expensive , the oil absorbs well into the skin too and it’s not greasy at all . I’ve used it all over my body, hands and even face too without any irritation at all . I have some stretch marks on my tummy, they don’t really bother me but I’ve been applying generous amounts on that area. Hopefully in time, they’ll fade a little but for now, I have not seen ...

Nivea’s 1 Minute Urban Detox Mask Moisturise

Image
I’ve been using  Nivea’s 1 Minute Urban Detox Mask Moisturise  for over 3 months and here’s my review on the results. It is a moisturising mask with Green Tea and Hyaluronic Acid that’s supposed to detoxify the skin from environmental stressors. It also promises to intensively moisturise and to leave you with a radiant complexion. First of all, I love the fact that after washing your face all you have to do is apply this product generously and then leave it on for 1 minute . Where after you’re supposed to massage the remains into the skin, you can also remove it with a cotton pad but I just leave it as is. It absorbs really well into the skin so there’s not really anything left to clean up. It does make my skin feel moisturised and plump and I didn’t experience any clogged pores or breakouts since using it. I didn’t see a major difference but I love the fresh, clean smell of the green tea scent and my skin does appear brighter and slightly more even toned ....

Avon Faraway EDP

Image
Today I’m reviewing the original Avon Faraway  perfume, a scent that I’ve loved for years. I’m really fond of their solid perfume too, as it fits perfectly into my handbag and the smell is so intense. However, I have mixed feelings about the body spray, I like it but I don’t love it, it’s almost as if the smell just doesn’t last that long.  I love that the original Avon Faraway  perfume still comes in the original tasseled perfume bottle . A really beautiful looking little carafe with that iconic amber juice inside.  They call it a floral oriental but I can smell a lot of sweetness too, in essence, it’s an exotic mix of Freesia, Jasmine and Vanilla Musk . The scent is long-lasting and you’ll definitely still smell it on your clothing the next day. If it’s a carefree and zesty smell you’re after you should give this one a pass as its very grown up and sensual. Avon Faraway are loved by women all over the world , it’s a classic scent that will always ...

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour Temptation

Image
The Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour  in Temptation is a lightweight, high definition velvety matte colour that I've been wearing nonstop. It has a smooth, moisturising feel and the gel formula is 100% wax-free. I love how it brightens my complexion and how it lasts on my lips throughout eating and drinking.  I like the easy to close 5.9 ml tube that fits perfectly into my makeup bag along with the rest of my beauty products. The formulation is really not drying at all, before applying I just go through the normal routine of scrubbing my lips a bit and that's it!  Here I've applied the  Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour on my lips. It is so pretty and I will definitely try out the rest of the colours in this beautiful range because it's so amazing. See more shades here.  I honestly never thought that I'd become a fan of matt lipsticks as they are almost always drying and causing flakes on the lips, but not this one.  T...

L.A Girl Pro Setting HD Matte Spray

Image
I’ve been using the L.A Girl Pro Setting HD Matte Spray for more than a month now and oh my gosh, it’s a keeper! I’m not a newbie when it comes to makeup setting sprays and sadly most of the time I struggle to see any results. Maybe that’s why I still have half-full bottles of previous varieties cluttering up my cupboard space.  L.A Girl's Pro Setting HD Matte Spray  promises a matte finish and that is exactly the results that I see. With other sprays, I normally go with a translucent powder all over my face to get rid of leftover oil. That is after the use of a makeup setting spray . Also to get rid of that typical mud-like appearance I've seen with the use of setting sprays. But not with this product, my face looks dewy and without shine and the effects are really long-lasting.  In the images above and below you can see the polished appearance this product gives to my overall look. On my eyes, I've used the  L.A Girl Eye Lux Me...

Dr. Pawpaw Shea Butter Balm

Image
Seriously, I like all the variants of Dr. Pawpaw (I have them all) but this one really is the bomb. I’m talking about the Dr. Pawpaw Shea Butter Balm.   It moisturizes dry chapped lips and cuticles and it soothes dry cracked skin such as hands, heels, elbows and knees. I’ve been applying it on my little one's bum after diaper changes and I’ve also been using it on my new pixie cut hairstyle for numerous stylish looks.  This balm has also become part of my beauty routine at night as it leaves my skin beautifully bright and plump without causing any clogging or irritation. The Dr. Pawpaw Shea Butter Balm is a 100% natural multipurpose soothing balm with natural Pawpaw and Shea Butter . It is fragrance-free, suitable for vegans and not tested on animals .  The clear consistency is thicker than normal Dr. Pawpaw balms, it melts onto your skin and it has an earthy, nutty smell of which Castor Oil is prominent.  Shea Butter is known for its heal...

L.A Girl Eye Lux Mesmerizing Eyeshadow Palette in Tropicalize

Image
I love experimenting with different shades of eyeshadows and I almost always stay away from blueish shades. Which is such a huge mistake on my part, since they really tend to bring out and intensify the warmth of my brown eyes. The L.A Girl Eye Lux Mesmerizing   Eyeshadow Palette in Tropicalize  was sent to me recently and I decided to pair it with a nude lip. In the pictures below you can see how my eyes just appear to pop with that beautiful hue of blue on it. Striking right!? This palette comes in 4 colours, all equally beautiful and highly pigmented. Two lovely shades of blue and another two apricot/nude like hues. I wear contact lenses and there’s no burning sensation or irritation at all and it last right throughout the day which is always a good thing. The packaging is compact and easy to open just like the rest of L.A Girl's high-quality beauty products.  The nude shades look so good above the eye and on my brow bone, I love it! V...

L.A. Girl's Just Blushing, 'Just Dazzle' Blush

Image
I’ve been really eager to try the new range of blushes from L.A. Girl Cosmetics , so you can imagine how happy I was when the Just Blushing, 'Just Dazzle' blush landed on my desk. And you know what? I think this blush might just become my all year long go-to blush, let me tell you why. Apart from being very pigmented I like the fact that it’s not your normal rosy coloured blush, it gives more of a bronze/peachy hue to my cheeks and I really love the look of it. It also has these beautiful illuminating specks of gold in-between , so pretty! The colour also doesn’t fade at all during the day especially when I set my makeup with the L.A. Girl Setting Spray , review on this spray coming soon. The packaging is compact and easy to open and adds a bit of glam to the rest of my makeup bag. Talking of makeup bags, I desperately need a new (bigger) one.  L.A. Girl always produces high-quality cosmetics at affordable prices and the Just Dazzle blush is de...
